Ammonium Removal
Ammonium Removal via Efficient Ammonia Stripping
Reliable removal of ammonium (NH₄⁺) from wastewater, construction water, and groundwater—using Prantner’s proven countercurrent stripping technology.
Ammonium-containing waters are a key environmental and permitting issue in many industries. Our systems reliably convert ammonium into gaseous ammonia and remove it through efficient stripping processes.
Process Principle
In a first step, the bound ammonium is converted into free ammonia under alkaline conditions. This is then stripped from the wastewater in a Prantner packed-bed countercurrent column—a robust and energy-efficient process that operates reliably even under high loads. This process corresponds exactly to the process used in previous Prantner technology and forms the core of our ammonia desorption systems.
